USK firsts lost heavily to Abergavenny on Saturday, while the seconds beat the same opponents comfortably. Usk batted first at the Athletic Club Ground and never really got going. Only Ollie James (46) and skipper, Henry Lewis (38), made meaningful contributions. M.A. Bukari did most of the damage taking 5-26 and Usk struggled to 167 all out. Abergavenny had no problems reaching the target for the loss of just A. Balouch (68). A Jones top scored with an unbeaten 88 as the visitors coasted home with nine wickets in hand. At Avenue Road, Usk batted first and made 202-9 from 45 overs. Captain Andy Evans top scored with 53, while Matt Cook also weighed in with 27. For Abergavenny, M. Knight and J. Hrastelj each picked up three wickets. Abergavenny toiled in reply with only L. Holley (47) getting to grips with the Usk attack. There was little resistance otherwise as the hosts collapsed to 132 all out. Ben Evans (3-23) and Julian Smith (2-23) were the pick of the bowlers for Usk. Usk will hope to finish off their league programme with victory this Saturday as the firsts travel to Sudbrook and the seconds entertain the same opponents. Both matches begin at 1pm
