Abergavenny Town returned victorious from their trip to the Rhondda Valley and in doing so progressed to the last 16 of the FAW Trophy.

Their reward is a home tie in round five on Saturday 31 January against another Rhondda based side, Sporting Marvels from the South Wales Senior League, who themselves cruised through the round with a spectacular 9-0 win.

Craig Norman opened the scoring at Ton Pentre FC's Ynys Park, home of Ton & Gelli, after 15 minutes, and in rampant form he struck the crossbar with a thunderous drive on the half hour. However it was Ton who scored in the next minute, and although Norman stuck the post with another pile driver the score was locked 1-1 at half time.

Spurred on by a coach load of travelling supporters Town continued to dominate but had to wait until the 75th minute when the other Norman in the side, Aaron Norman, got Town's all important second goal when he picked his spot from the edge of the box and fired into the corner of the Ton's keeper net.

Sensing the next goal would settle the tie, Town continued to pile on the pressure and victory was sealed when Dean Morgan netted six minutes from time.

On Saturday, Town who remain league leaders, return to league action travelling to third placed Trethomas Bluebirds (2.00pm) who have recovered well since their 10-0 thrashing at Pen-y-Pound on the opening day of the season.
