Newport Gwent Dragons have geared up for the 2016/17 Season with a photoshoot at the iconic Big Pit National Coal Museum in Blaenavon.

The Big Pit National Coal Museum is part of the National Museum of Wales and had previously been a working mine from 1880 to 1980.

Dragons stars Nick Crosswell, Jack Dixon, Elliot Dee, Lewis Evans, Ollie Griffiths, Carl Meyer and Tom Prydie took part in the shoot, posing for indoor and outdoor photographs. The players appeared with mining tools and coal dust effects. Shots, taken by the Huw Evans Agency, featured the famous Big Pit Winding Tower, the Locomotive Nora No 5, the Powell Duffryn locomotive and wooden coal wagons.

The photoshoot forms part of the Dragons “This is Real Rugby Country” campaign which represents the industrial heritage of the Gwent Region. The campaign will be seen on bus backs, billboards and Dragons marketing through August and into the new season.
