Abergavenny rugby club recently held their end of season dinner and presentation evening at the Bailey Park clubhouse.

Club stalwart Rob Lothian won Quins player of the year and Sam Price was awarded the Quins clubman of the season.

The first team’s most improved player was Fred Pursey. The supporters’ player

was young fullback winger Dan Dunmore.

The coaches’ player was awarded to tight head prop Ryan Morgan who throughout the season has only missed one game and has provided the team with a rock solid scrum.

Abergavenny’s players voted for their own player of the year and this went to livewire flanker Dan Beavan .

The ladies also handed out their awards with back row forward Jodie Fleet wining player of the year and the club person of the year going to Jackie Lewis for her enthusiasm and dedication throughout the season.

The club award for endeavour went to Zara Rogers for her efforts over the last three seasons with the ladies team.

The clubman of the year was awarded to club captain Gareth Williams who led a very young side through a tough season to eventually win the Ben Francis’s Bowl.

The outgoing coaches Mark Fleet and Howard Davies were thanked for their services to the club and were given a grand send off by club players and supporters.

Abergavennny Rugby club have great pleasure in announcing that the new coaches for the forthcoming season will be led by former Blaenavon coach Gareth Betts, who will be assisted by Mathew Price and Gareth Groves. Training will commence on Tuesday, July 5. All players old and new will be very welcome.
