Pontardawe Town - 2

Goytre - 2

In the wake of seven weeks with only one game played, Goytre were over the moon to be making the long trip to Pontardawe for a FAW Welsh Cup tie, but the Division One outfit soon brought them back to earth with a bang.

Playing without prolific striker Luke Prosser who was serving a one match suspension and flying winger Coerey Jenkins, Goytre began brightly enough and caused the home side numerous problems but the final ball was always lacking.

Pontardawe settled their nerves and opened their account after 13 minutes when left back Rhys Whitelcok sent a left footed free kick sailing over Goytre's keeper Scott James.

The Plough Road side upped the ante, only for Truman to have two free kicks on the edge of the box denied by the wall and Kyle Bassett and James Young's excellent attacking play repelled time and time again by the excellent Town defence.

Goytre stormed into the second half like a team with nothing to lose and everything to win.

They threw everything at the home team, but some sound defending and spirited keeping kept the wolves from the door and denied Goyte the equaliser.

Instead, Pontardawe concentrated on defending until the opportunity arose for them to make their move and deliver the killing blow. 77 minutes in a great run down the left by Kyle Cockings saw him deliver a cross to Josh Dorward who fired home for Town's second.

Goytre battled until the last whistle, determined to salvage something from the game, but it was not to be, as the final whistle blew on a very entertaining encounter.
