On a lively wicket at the picturesque village ground of Moccas, the Beavers were inserted but soon made light of this decision as Chris Challoner battered the home bowlers with a quick-fire 59.
With Chaloner and other opener Nathan Holley gone, Jake Groves slowly built his confidence and a partnership with Gareth Powell developed. Groves got into gear and soon passed 50, outscoring his partner Powell.
Groves continued to build his innings, and as he did so, the big scoring shots became more frequent. Powell eventually went for a useful 36 as the Beavers passed 200, but Groves was in no mood to let up. He pummelled the Moccas attack and reached his maiden century with some eight overs left. Groves was eventually left unbeaten on 142 as the Beavers reached a massive 314 for seven.
In reply, Moccas' openers made their intention clear by going for their shots, but in his fourth over, under 15 player Tom Keane took three wickets to derail the home side's reply. Only Pugh, 52, showed any resistance but when Owain Bradley had him trapped LBW, the match as a contest was over.
Chris Challoner added to his runs with two wickets in an over, before 12-year-old Richard Monnington joined the attack and picked up two for five in three overs. It was then left to another youngster Lewis Evans to apply the coup-de-grace as Moccas were bowled out for just 125, leaving the Beavers with a massive 189 run victory.
Next week the Beavers face sterner opposition in Luctonians seconds as they attempt to move up from fifth position.
