GOVILON football club have resumed pre-season training under the watchful eye of returning coach Shaun Morgan.
Training takes place on Tuesday and Thursdays with a 6pm start. The club have also engaged the services of local personal trainer Mike James, who will put the players through their paces on a Saturday morning between 10 and 11am at the recreation ground. Everyone is invited to turn up and try their luck.
Govilon will also be turning to guest coaches to keep things fresh and everybody on their toes. Andy Beattie will be taking some sessions and John Gall, who has recently returned from working in America where he has coached successfully for many years, will be taking others.
The progress the club has made over the past years and the tremendous condition of their home playing surface, courtesy of Andrew Norman and his ground staff, means they have been able to put together a fantastic pre-season fixture list.
They start with an away match with Rhayder Town on Saturday July 15, followed quickly by Tredegar Athletic home on Tueday, July 17, then on Saturday, July 21 they entertain last season's Welsh League Division One winners Cambrian and Clydach, with the senior match kicking off at 2pm followed by an under 18s game against the same opposition at 4pm.
A club spokesperson said, "We have put together a comprehensive pre-season programme, so if you would like to play a part in our forthcoming season please turn up at one of our many training sessions, you will be sure of a friendly but hectic welcome."
