WERNDDU Golf Club held a new Seniors Golf competition recently called The Tommy Two Shots Challenge Trophy.

It was arranged by new member Tom Williams who the club know as Tommy two shots. The reason? Tom has two shots on some of the holes and the nick name stuck.

The competition is a Stableford comp over 18 off full handicap.

The winner was Alan Smith with 39 points. The runner up was John Hawker. The nearest the pin was Alan Smith with 37 points.

The presentation to the winner was made by Wernddu Secretary Frankie Watkins, accompanied by Seniors’ Vice Captiain Phil Roberts.

Tom explained, “I have been playing golf for 48 years at five different courses. Three in Milton Keynes, one in Burghill Valle Herefordshire, and now at Wernddu.

“I have found the members at Wernddu to be the most friendly of all. Hence I wanted to do something to show my appreciation as a current member of the Seniors.”
