ABERGAVENNY Town secured all three points to go second with a 3–1 Friday night Ardal South East League win over Caldicot Town at Pen-Y-Pound.

Both clubs boasted a perfect start to the league campaign prior to kick-off, and it was the Swans who opened the scoring through Cole Greenhaf netting on 21 minutes.

But the game was turned on its head with five minutes remaining in the first half, as Abergavenny’s Jack Sage scored a quick-fire double for 2-1 to the hosts.

And the points were made safe when Curtis Methven added a third in the 70th minute, sending them up to second, level on points with leaders Chepstow Town but with a game in hand, while Caldicot stay fourth.

Elsewhere, Blaenavon Blues travelled to Undy's Causeway on Saturday, but found Ollie Young in impressive scoring form with a hat-trick as they missed out 3-1.

An uneventful first half ended with the hosts taking the lead in added time when Young's shot took a massive deflection of Alex Bull leaving Blues keeper Adam Rafter, who had earlier made a fine save from another deflection, with no chance.

Blues were slow to start the second half and found themselves two down after an hour when Young tapped in unmarked at the back post.

The Blues rallied and got a goal back through Burns after good work by Gibbs down the left.

But the good work was undone moments later when more poor marking on the far post saw Young complete his hat-trick.

A change of shape for the final 15 minutes saw Craig Tanner go up front alongside Burns.

And the makeshift striker found himself through on goal where a deft touch over the advancing Undy keeper saw Tanner catapulted into the air.

Everyone in the Causeway was expecting a penalty, but the referee waved play on.

After six away league games, Blues finally host their first league home game of the season on Saturday when Cwmbran Town visit the Memorial Ground.

Elsewhere, winless Clydach Wasps were clattered 8-0 at home by Newport visitors Graig Villa Dino in the Gwent Premier top tier.

Wasps were 2-0 down after 10 minutes and two late first half goals made it 4-0 at the break.

And it was 8-0 with 17 minutes still to play, although thankfully Dino couldn't take it into double figures, with the defeat leaving Clydach bottom after seven games with just the one point.

But Brynmawr United marched on at the top of GP1 with a 4-0 home win over Albion Rovers, Charliie Davies with a hat-trick.

He doubled the lead right on half-time after Liam Davies' 28th minute opener.

And he then scored again within three minutes of the restart for 3-0 before securing his hat-trick two minutes from time, with victory leaving them top five points clear of Fairfield with two games in hand.

Near neighbours Nantyglo were on Cloud Nine with a 9-1 crushing of basement hosts Coed Eva Athletic, Hadlee Davies firing an amazing six goals and Harvey Richardson a six-minute second half hat-trick.

But Usk Town emain winless at the bottom of GP2 after a battling 3-2 home loss to Croesyceiliog Athletic.

Griffin Morgan put them 1-0 up on the half hour, but three unanswered goals from the visitors made it 1-3 and a penalty conversion four minutes into stoppage time from Oliver Rudall only proved a consolation.
