Merthyr Town FC - 2

Abergavenny Town Women FC - 7

WITHOUT a fixture since September 8 Abergavenny Town Women made a welcome return to action in the shape of the FAW Women’s cup.

The ladies showed no signs of rustiness coming home from Penydarren Park with a fine 2-7 victory over Merthyr Town, with goals from Lyndsey Davies (4), and a goal each from Carys Bufton, Eliza Atkins and Ffion David.

This sets them up nicely as they make their long awaited return to league action on Sunday afternoon entertaining Port Talbot Ladies, at Pen-y-Pound Stadium (2pm kick-off)).

The Women’s section U14 side are also in fine form beating Cardiff Crusaders 3-1 last Sunday with goals from Eleri Jones, Meg Welford and Carys Jeremiah.

Meanwhile, Town’s U16 side made the trek to Chepstow Town last Sunday but were on the wrong end of an 8-2 reversal.
