Abergavenny Town Girls Under 12’s finished their first season of competitive football on Sunday with a 1-0 win at Albion Rovers.

The girls controlled the game from start to finish and never really looked troubled, but struggled to find the back of the net.

The winning goal came from a fantastic through ball from striker Macey McCann to her striking partner Ruby Gould who struck a great shot past the keeper. Carys Pond, Isabella Rudge and Meg Welford all played their part in testing the Albion defence.

Midfielders Sophie Engel, Mia Sherrard, Bella Wilce and Chelleter Graham-Sawyers controlled the midfield on a very hot day.

Defenders Brooke Davies and Cristyn Powell both remained solid at the back with keeper Katie Barker dealing with any Albion goal attempts.

The girls finished third in the second league competition of the season after winning the initial league competition.
