CRICKHOWELL High School have made history after both the girls and boys teams won their respective finals in the prestigious Badminton Wales Top Schools event.
Held at Newtown Leisure Centre, 56 teams were competing for the two top titles and Crickhowell won both.
All matches were best of five games, two singles and three doubles, with four players in each team.
Having already won at the South Wales Finals without conceding a single game, both teams approached the National Finals in confident mood.
And their confidence was justified. The girls won again without conceding a game and the boys only conceded two on their march to the title.
Six of the Crickhowell team are members of the Badminton Wales Development Group and all eight are present or former members of the Abergavenny Junior Badminton Club coached by Chris and Alison Pritchard.
Crickhowell High School P.E teach Andrew York told the Chronicle, "All of the players competed and performed fantastically well, displaying a very high level to win the tournament. Both teams will now represent the school at the Brecon/Radnor Sports Personality Awards evening at Llandrindod Wells, where they are placed to win either first, second or third prize.
