EARLIER this month the much awaited Autobiography, ‘Not Only But Also’- My Life in Cricket by Malcolm Nash with Richard Bentley was launched.
The launch coincided with both the Glamorgan CCC Past Players’ Summer Luncheon and the Opening Royal London Cup One Day fixture with Gloucestershire. The Launch and the Past Players events were successful, unfortunately Glamorgan lost the match with Gloucestershire.
This however didn’t dampen the spirits of those attending the question and answer session at the close of play. Supporters were joined by a host of Nash’s peers from the era in which he played.
Ashley Drake of St David’s Press opened proceedings by inviting Nash to reflect on some of the many highlights of his career, this prompted many questions from the audience and in particular from the past players present who included John Steele, Mike Llewellyn, Eifion Jones, Roger Davies, Arthur Francis, Gwyn Richards, Alan Lewis Jones and Kim Davies.
Nash personally signed copies of the book for everyone who purchased a copy. In his sporting memoir which is published 50 years after that historic day in Swansea, Nash not only looks back on the record-breaking over bowled to Sobers, but also explores and celebrates his wider achievements with ball and bat, and paints an intriguing and nostalgic picture of county cricket, and the life of a county cricketer, in the 1960s and 1970s.
