Llanarth Under 11s were the first side from the club to take to the pitch this season with a game against usually tough opponents Newport.

Llanarth only fielded one under 11 with the rest still being under 10s, nevertheless they made a fine start to the season racking up an impressive victory.

Batting first the Llanarth batsmen all looked to score with three of them getting in to double figures. Lawrence Johnson top scored with 14 not out, including two boundaries, a total almost matched by Henry Evans whose 13 also included a couple of fours.

Lysander Myrddin-Evans reached 11 helped along by a couple of fives, each of which included four overthrows! The most pleasing aspect was that the team lost only four wickets. Running between the wickets was generally good despite the fact that this seemed to rely on e.s.p, as calling was almost non-existent, allowing plenty of room for improvement.

The bowling was also pretty good being reasonably straight, although there were a few too many wides. The highlight however was the fielding with everyone looking sharp resulting in no less than five run outs including a direct hit from Joe Hynes.

Lysander and Henry shared the wicket-keeping duties and were very tidy with some excellent takes letting very little past them. They were also the two bowlers who picked up a wicket, so excellent all round performances.
