TALYBONT marked their return to Marches league cricket after a lapse of 26 years with a comprehensive win over Woolhope.

Dan Bowen won the toss and opted to bowl. Huw griffiths (one for 16 off 10) and debutant Lewis Deacon (one for 11 off 7) bowled well against experienced openers A. Thomas (8) and A. Willaims (44).

A mix up resulted in Thomas being run out with a good throw from Lewis Mallon, before Griffiths bowled Owen (3) to put the Bont in the ascendancy.

Further wickets from debutant Mallon (one for 18 off 4) and the experienced Martin Hurst (two for 27 off nine), made inroads into the Woolhope innings.

Experienced former Talgarth spinner Carl Lewis (one for 23 off 10) then trapped Williams LBW, to leave Woolhope 100 for seven off their 40 overs.

In bat, Dan Bowen (52) and yet another debutant Craig Samuel (7) laid the foundation with a stand of 34 before Samuel was bowled.

Martin Hurst (27 not out) helped the hard hitting Bowen to 67 for two before Bowen was bowled for a quick fire 52, containing six fours and a six.

Colin Griffiths (2) and his new hip replacement was soon bowled to leave Bont at 70 for three.

Youngster Richard James (11 not out) joined Hurst and under gathering rain clouds the two saw Bont home in the 20th over.
