ELEVEN tries, seven converted provided a comprehensive win for Crickhowell RFC against Old Tylerians on the weekend and to be truthful in spite of the visitors' bravery they were totally out classed by a Parc Broyd outfit who were on the rampage from the kick off.
Sean Buck bagged three, Alan Taylor and Andrew Reynolds scored two apiece and Tom Canning, Adam Howells, Joe Williams, Gareth Bowen, and Adam Sanchez all crossed the try-line.
Captain Howells added seven conversions to make the rout complete.
However it was the Tylerians who opened the scoring with a penalty goal from inside their own half that was helped over by a bounce off the cross bar.
Their lead was short lived however as the home side pack warmed to the their task and set up their halfbacks to send Tom Canning on his way to the line. Tries followed at regular intervals throughout the game with ball being supplied by a dominant eight which kept the scoreboard ticking over.
It was very pleasing to see three youth XV players get some match time. Gareth Downey, Joe Williams and Adam Sanchez all came on - for Williams and Sanchez it was a real occasion as they both scored tries.
So the Crick push for promotion to division five continues, neck and neck with Llandrindod Wells. Crickhowell have a game in hand over their rivals and a superior try count.
So it is still very much in their hands but before the league is settled their is the little matter of the Ivor Jones cup semi final to be played at Parc Broyd tonight (Thursday) against Gwernyfed RFC with a 6pm kick-off.
