GLANGRWYNEY CC'S good run came to an abrupt end against top of the table Builth Wells. Glang lost the all important toss and were put to bat. Geoff Holmes and Bob Howell opened but were soon bowled by the accurate Jeff Carter (two for 35 off 12). Mike Devoy (45) was joined by Nick Jones (22) building a useful partnership before Jones was bowled by the South African Eric De Greeve. Devoy was soon bowled by the same bowler and only youngster Richard James got into double figures, as Glang were all out for a disappointing 123 with four overs still to bat. On batting, veteran Gerald Morgan (16) looked dangerous but Mike Devoy held on to a Morgan drive off Haydn Davies (one for 325 off seven). Fellow opener Aled Powell (44) and Paul Rowe (44 n.o.) got Builth closer to the target before Powell fell to a sharp catch by Colin Griffiths off Gethin Price (one for 14 off three). Roger Edwards had De Greeve well caught by Tom Devoy as Rowe and Darren Laurie saw Builth home in just 25 overs. With the top two team matches being rained off last Saturday. Glang were at home to lowly Mocca and managed to consolidate their third position with a 138 run win. Glang openers Paul Daniel (60) and Bob Howell (19) set a sound foundation for the later batsmen against the accurate bowling of veteran Bill Bowen and Alan Harris. Howell departed with the score at 45 for one in the 18th over. Daniel was joined by Tim Jones (58) and put on a partnership of 104 before anchorman Daniel was caught for an excellent 60. Jones was also caught for another superb hard-hitting knock. useful contributions from Nick Jones (17) and the returning Lewis Morgan (10) took the score close to the 200 mark with Jonty Jones and Richard James there at the end. In bowl, the in-form pair of super veteran Haydn Davies (3 for 7 off 8) and the ever improving Richard James (3 for 14 off 7) proved too much for the Moccas batsmen. Excellent catches from Lewis Morgan (2), Colin Griffiths, Nick Jones, Tim Jones and Paul Daniel, were assisted by first change bowler Jonty Jones (2 for 10 off 8), who helped himself to two caught and bowled. Colin Griffiths (1 for 11 off 7) produced a catch for Tim Jones, and new signing Nicky L. Jones (1 for 7 off 1) bowled the last man. This match sponsored by Glangrwyney's Bell Inn was sweet revenge for Glang who suffered a defeat at Moccas earlier this season.
