NEWPORT Athletic were the visitors to Gilwern last Saturday in MBA league action and showed their pedigree with an overwhelming victory by 104 shots to 52.
The only point gained by the home team was on rink one skipped by Kevin Davies who with some resolute bowling achieved a 20-20 draw.
Rink two skipped by Brian Hughes were always playing catch up eventually losing 14-24.
The rink of Bryant Chivers were unable to find the run of the green and together with some lucky deflections by the visitors saw Newport run out victors by 8-37.
A similar story was unfolding on rink four skipped by Tony Corfield with the home team eventually losing 10-23.
This coming weekend the club is free from league action, instead they are holding a Founders competition which will be followed by a barbecue.
