LAST Saturday at Brecon eight athletics clubs from across Wales came together to compete in the Welsh U15 Junior League Plate Cup Final.
BGAC is the smallest and newest athletics club in Wales and once again the club the club gained recognition and respect for the way it keeps producing and developing quality all round athletes.
The quality of their abilities was such that 13 athletes made up team BGAC and between them they managed to secure nine first places, seven second places, five third places and five fourth places.
In the U11 group Emilie Davies capped off a dominating display of sprinting by winning the 75m and 150m race with Elise Turner coming third overall in the 150m. Emilie then added to her haul by winning the long jump.
Dylan Keys continued his impressive debut season by coming third in the 800m and improving yet again his personnel best for this distance. First time competitor Owain Evans won in the Javelin, and showed promising potential in the sprints.
The final U11 event the 4x100m quartet of Sheena Williams, Ellie Bainton, Elise Turner and Emilie Davies showed the depth of young sprinting talent at the club by securing first place.
The U13 section saw Molly Palin come first in the 1000k walk taking a massive thirty seconds of her previous best, Isabel Breeden cemented her position as the number one 11 year old in the 70m hurdles in Wales by winning the event with a new personnel best, Abi Fisher and Amy Goncalves both finished in second place in the 800m and 1500m respectively, this puts both girls amongst the best middle distance runners in Wales for their age.
Dominic Morris in his first season continued his impressive start by achieving another personal best in the 200m. The girls 4x100m relay team of Storm Wilkins, Mollie Palin, Abi Fisher and Isabel Breeden narrowly missed out second place the eleven year old girls gave a determined performance against the older relay teams.
The U15's saw Welsh Pentathlon Champion, Jodie Beynon win the high jump and come second in the 75m hurdles, Ffion Jones threw second in javelin and shot, and Ieuan Jones also took second in shot.
The club is now looking forward to the Les Davies Cup on September 8, which is the last outdoor event and then it is into the winter indoor track and field competitions and Gwent Cross Country League.
