TWENTY-nine Seniors from Alice Springs Golf Club took part in their annual Autumn golf tour last week.
They stayed at the Wiltshire Golf Club near Royal Wooton Bassett, and played rounds of golf on the Lakes Course on days one and three, and on the Gardens Course on day two.
The courses were in good condition. Strong winds affected the play on the first day, and heavy rain reduced the second day's play to just nine holes. Nevertheless an enjoyable time was had by all.
A Stableford competition was held each day in two handicap categories, and the daily winners were:
Day 1: Category 1 - John Blakeburn, Category 2 - Roger Jones
Day 2: Category 1 - Barrie Turner, Category 2 - Henry Lewis
Day 3: Category 1 - Nigel Pipe, Category 2 - Chris Newton
There were daily nearest the pin competitions, and a putting competition, which was won by Barrie Turner. The evening pool competition was won by Gerry Worsley.
At the end of the three days the Seniors' Tour Cup was awarded to the golfer with the highest points total.
This year's winner, with a total of 82 points was Chris Newton, with Roger Jones and Barrie Turner joint second with 81 points.
The Seniors' Captain, Richard Bateman, thanked the tour organiser, John Price, for successfully organising another tour , and this was endorsed by the all the Seniors.
