FOUR years ago Usk man Ray Morgan was nominated to carry the Olympic Torch.

In his statement beforehand he said he wanted to get coaching certificates to help and encourage others to enjoy running as much as he did and to complete an Ironman Challenge by the time he was 35.

Having already achieved the first by earning his running and swimming coaching certificates, Ray was in Zurich on Sunday to complete the Ironman challenge. He did this in just over 12 hours.

Any sponsorship Ray has received is going towards "Callum’s Dream Wheels,” a local collection to help purchase an ’off road’ wheelchair for 18 year old Callum Arnold from Pandy who has Lesch-Nyhan Syndrome.
