YOUNG drivers got the chance to meet former world rally champion Nicky Grist and test the skills legally in Abergavenny on Sunday.
Cruise Control saw drivers take part in competitions and displays under the guidance of the professionals.
The event was organised by Bryn y Cwm Community Safety Action Team, and involved Gwent Police. There were also rally cars for the sport enthusiast and displays by the fire service.
The event was designed as a youth diversion initiative in response to the problem that Abergavenny, like many other towns across the country, has with young people using their vehicles in an anti-social and irresponsible manner.
Cruise Control was officially opened by Dr Brian Gibbons, Welsh Assembly Minister for Social Justice and Local Government who was the first to take part in the Autotest Competition.
Auto test results were, class A, 1, Alexander Aitken, 2, James Vaughan, 3, Kristine Smeets. Class B, 1, Craig Jones, 2, Junior Rally Team 16, 3, Junior Rally Team 17.
First female was Rebecca Evans and fastest time of the day test winner was Hwyel Tidley.
