A TREE-mendous offer from the Woodland Trust could see neighbourhoods branching out with a new green initiative aimed at restoring our historic hedgerows.
The Trust is currently offering free tree packs to community groups and schools. Hedge packs in Monmouthshire will be counted alongside those planted as part of the ‘Long Forest’ hedgerow project.
Communities are also being invited to bring a bit of the countryside into town with a 15-tree urban pack designed for planting in residential areas.
The trees are easy to manage and, where no communal space is available, they can be split between neighbours using front gardens to green up the street.
Applications are now open for trees to be delivered in March 2019 and the Trust are inviting anyone interested to get in touch at www.woodlandtrust.org.uk/plant-trees/free-trees/
