A woman from the Hereford area has died in a collision on the A465 at Llangua today.
It is understood that the woman's car collided with a tree on the road between Abergavenny and Hereford, which remained closed for a number of hours following the incident which happened at around 7am.
The woman, who was the only occupant of, a black Ford Fiest was taken to Nevill Hall hospital in Abergavenny by a crew from the West Midlands Ambulance Service.
A spokeswoman for South Wales Fire and Rescue said they were called at 6.50am to the incident on the A465 near Grosmont.
Crews from Abergavenny and Ebbw Vale were at the scene, but were not required as firefighters from Hereford and Worcester dealt with the incident.
Officers ask that anyone who may have witnessed the collision to call 101 quoting log 36 10/02/14
