MEMBERS, guests and friends of the Abergavenny Visually Impaired Club (VIP) enjoyed their annual Christmas lunch recently.

The party of 38 dining at the St Michael's Centre included the mayor, councillor John Prosser and the mayoress Christine Prosser, Andrew Hillier, deputy chief executive of the Gwent Association for the Blind, based in Pontypool and reverend Bernard Sixtus, vicar of Holy Trinity Church in Baker Street.

The club, established in 1988, meets on alternative Mondays to provide refreshments and entertainment, The six members are pictured in the front row and seven volunteers are behind with the guests.

The club, which has an expanding membership, is appealing for new volunteers, particularly car drivers, to help for around three hours once a fortnight in the afternoons.
