A WAITER from Usk has already swapped his 18-hour days serving and cleaning for signing autographs and doing interviews for glossy magazines in London after appearing on Britain's Got Talent and wowing the judges.
Greg Pritchard, 24, pictured, of Trostrey near Usk is a step closer to achieving his dream of becoming a world-renowned singer after impressing Simon Cowell, Piers Morgan and Amanda Holden on Saturday night's show.
Greg hasn't worked since his performance of Nessun Dorma, "I was supposed to be working on Tuesday but I had to cancel my shift because I have been in London doing interviews and shoots. It's been great though. My managers and everyone at the Celtic Manor are really proud and pleased for me."
From waiting tables, organising buffets and cleaning up Greg has been catapulted into stardom, appearing on TV, radio and in magazines and newspapers around the country.
"I don't mind the long days when I'm doing this - it's my dream and it beats working 18 hour shifts in work," he said.
"I was on GMTV yesterday and met everyone there. I was asked what I wanted for breakfast - they told me I could have whatever I wanted so I ordered a bacon butty."
His countertenor voice stunned the judges with Piers Morgan declaring it was , "one of the most extraordinary things I have ever heard."
However, the talented local lad says he's never been trained and sings alone at home.
"I sing everyday. I don't sing on stage, just to myself in the car and at home. I've had no training. I was about to go to performing arts school but my financial backing pulled out three days before I was meant to go so I though I'd try Britain's Got Talent.
"I thought I would go for it - there's nothing to lose and it doesn't cost anything."
Greg's mum Debra and his younger brother Jack, 13, went to the auditions in London.
"I couldn't sleep the night before and had to be up really early. I was so nervous and I had a long day ahead of me - most of it waiting around. I had to be there at 1pm and I performed at around 8.30pm. When I sang my mum and brother were in the audience and my mum said Jack's hands were red from clapping so much - and he was the first to start the standing ovation."
It seems that the singer's fan-base is already building as he gets asked for pictures and autographs wherever he goes.
"I went into the Spar in Usk and people were queuing up for my autograph. As I'm talking to you now in the train station I'm being asked for my autograph," he added.
