Monmouth Male Voice Choir will be performing at the Sessions House in Usk this Saturday (April 23) in support of Kidney Wales Foundation.
The concert has been promoted by Alec Leathwood, the former Mayor of Usk, who has been a leading volunteer for the Foundation for many years.
Cllr Leathwood said, “We’re delighted Monmouth Male Voice Choir will be performing in Usk this Saturday. They provide great entertainment and attracted a great deal of interest when they performed at the Principality Stadium before the recent Wales-Scotland international.
“We also have renowned bluegrass guitarist Chris Moreton performing with the choir.”
The Kidney Wales Foundation leads the way in the fight against kidney disease. Kidney Wales invests in renal research, patient care and well–being, and actively works with and on behalf of kidney patients and their families across Wales.
“There will be great night’s entertainment for this important cause,” said Cllr Leathwood. “The Sessions House is a unique venue and I’m sure the Choir and Chris Moreton will do us all proud.”
Concert tickets at £8 are available from Alec Leathwood by emailing: [email protected]. For further information call 07803 727864.
* In a bid to boost membership, Monmouth Male Voice Choir is holding another open rehearsal this month at the Shire Hall in Monmouth.
Chairman Huw Edwards said, “We know there will be guys in the area who would be keen to sing in a choir and we want to encourage them to attend our open rehearsal at 7pm on Thursday April 28. It’s an informal opportunity to have a drink and experience singing in a male voice choir. We don’t have auditions and just want to offer a friendly opportunity to sing with the choir. Many of us have made great friends through the choir.”
The choir was formed just over three years ago and now has around fifty members. Under Musical Director Ian Russell it has promoted gala concerts in Monmouth and performed at fund raising events for a wide range of good causes.
Anyone interested in attending the open rehearsal should contact Huw Edwards on 07967 007701 or email: [email protected]
