ON Saturday Usk entertained Nantyglo on the back of three defeats and a draw and reaped their first win of the season.

The first half saw both sides locking horns with two penalties apiece Come the second half and Nantyglo took the lead with a further penalty.

The visitors then lost their hooker to a dismissal and Usk wasted no time in taking advantage.

Craig Payne put Usk into the lead with a fine try and John Green's conversion added the extra points.

Usk consolidated their lead when their left wing strode through a narrow channel along the touchline to try.

Usk now had the upper hand and their talisman Emlyn Jones, who was playing his first game since breaking his leg at the end of last season, went over for Usk's third try of the game.

Usk continued to attack and were unlucky not to pick up a bonus point when both Webb and Jones knocked on within metres of the line.
