HEAVY goods vehicles passing through Abergavenny are causing concern, say Abergavenny Town Council.
At the Abergavenny Town Council meeting recently members were concerned about the number of HGVs passing through the town when there are other routes available.
Some councillors noted some vehicles coming to the Hardwick roundabout heading for Brecon could be directed over the Llanfoist Bridge, avoiding the town centre completely, and vehicles heading for Hereford could also be routed along the bypass. Councillors were made aware that the current trunk road was through Abergavenny and that there may be some difficulties encouraging the use of Llanfoist Bridge, but it was agreed to write to Monmouthshire County Council, local Assembly Members and the Highways Minister to try to re-route Heavy vehicles away from the Town Centre.
