A 700 year old yew tree in the grounds of St Faith's Church in Llanfoist was among the casualties of the high winds which battered Abergavenny on Tuesday.
The A4042 at Llanellen was also closed for some time after the river broke its banks.
The strong winds caused a mature tree in Bailey Park to come down along with another blocking the path way leading off Croesonen Road to Croesonen Park. Parking spaces in Abergavenny's Byefield lane car park were reduced as a tree lay across the parking area.
Meanwhile a tree that fell down in Crickhowell brought down power cables leaving many people without electricity.
As the wind continued to gust residents of Glaslyn Court care home could only watch as a tree came down outside their home - bringing down electricity power lines with it.
Another tree fell on the Olway Bridge on the Chepstow Road in Usk and the A472 road near the Equestrian Centre at Usk was also blocked for a short time by a fallen tree while various roads throughout the area were subjected to flash flooding.
