The West End may have Dame Judi and Dame Maggie but only Abergavenny has Brenda Harris!
With a career in the amateur theatre of almost 70 years to her name, Brenda has played all the great musical roles from Oklahoma’s Laurey to South Pacific’s Bloody Mary and in a unique afternoon of chat, music and special guests to be held at the Borough Theatre on Sunday,?March 13 she chats to Abergavenny Chronicle editor Liz Davies about her ‘life upon the wicked stage’
During the certain to be hilarious afternoon Brenda dishes the backstage gossip, talks about her favourite roles, the trials and tribulations of performing and joins members of AAODS to celebrate her 90th birthday by performing music handpicked from her long career.
If you remember the days of queuing along Frogmore Street to book ‘opera’ tickets from Heinz and Allen and watch Rene Martin, Tom Richards, Dilys Sayce and Gordon ‘Tex’ Hall weaving their magic on stage, then you will not want to miss this feast of nostaligia and laughter with one of Abergavenny’s best loved personalities.
Proceeds from this afternoon of music and mirth will be donated to A4B to support the ongoing development of the Borough Theatre.
