In the run-up to Christmas Specsavers on Frogmore Street will be welcoming a festive male voice choir, performing traditional Welsh hymns and carols as part of a one-off four-hour concert.
“Wales is heralded as a nation of great singers, so we’re inviting all members of our community to get into the festive spirit and enjoy what we hope will be a brilliant performance,” said store director, Sejal Shah.
“Last year, we brought our first Specsavers-themed choir to Abergavenny to coincide with the Rugby World Cup and we were delighted with the buzz it generated, which is why we’re so pleased to welcome them back again.
“We’ve got umbrellas and packs of ponchos at the ready so that, whatever the weather, the choir can be enjoyed by everyone.”
Made up of 12 Welsh choristers at every performance, the choirs will sing on weekends in October, November and December at Specsavers stores in Wales to raise money for the children’s hospice, Ty Hafan.
Specsavers announced its partnership with Ty Hafan in September, kicking off the year-long commitment with a donation of £10,958, the amount it costs the charity to provide 24 hours of care.
“We hope that the choir’s performances in the coming months will not only spread goodwill at a special time of the year but also inspire people to donate to a wonderful Welsh charity,” said Sejal.
Members of the Abergavenny community can watch the Specsavers choir between 11am and 3pm on Sunday November 6.
