DOZENS of Welsh conservative signs have "gone missing" from around the county.
Chairman of the Monmouth Conservative Association Chris Titchener said, "We have spent a considerable amount of money on quality cornex signage for the election campaign emblazoned with David Davies Welsh Conservative as we did in the last election, they splattered the county blue. They are lawfully placed and we finished our signing at the beginning of last week.
We have been concerned about the growing number of signs and sticks that they are attached to in various parts of the constituency from Croesyceiliog to Usk, going missing. There were blatant signs around the Conservative Club in Abergavenny - signs which were erected by three men as they are eight foot square. It would have taken a similar amount of people to remove them.
"We are satisfied this is no longer an isolated incident This is an orchestrated attempt by someone. We have reported it to Gwent Police and they are in the process of checking the CCTV footage. Anyone in possession of a sign who is not a fully paid member of the conservatives has committed theft. We have always tolerated issues with the signs - some become trophies other can get vandalised but this is an attempt to clear as many signs as possible. It's blatant."
