THE Christmas holidays have arrived a day early for pupils at King Henry VIII School in Abergavenny which is closed today (Friday) as a result of overnight snow.

Pupils at the town's Cantref Nursery also found themselves with an unexpected day off as the area awoke to early morning snow.

Snow also affected traffic with The Heads of the Valleys Road closed early on Friday morning, although by mid morning it was said to be passable with care between Brynmawr and Hirwaun.
