An overturned lorry overturned earlier on Wednesday morning, on the A449 between Usk and Raglan, police have confirmed.

The A449 was closed northbound as emergency services dealt with the accident.

Gwent Police issued an image of the lorry and said, ”Please find an alternative route."

Traffic Wales had also warned motorists that the road is closed from J24 at the Coldra, stretching up to Raglan.

Queues burgeoned on the M4 before the road re-opened just before 11am.

A Gwent Police spokesperson said, “At approximately 8.45am we received reports of a road traffic collision involving one vehicle on the A449 between Usk and Raglan. Officers attended and found that a vehicle had overturned.

“The road was temporarily blocked northbound, while recovery was awaited. No injuries were reported.”

The road was fully reopened at 10.35am.
