Llanbedr Church in Wales Primary School children have participated in the Dog’s Trail Wild in Art project which is being run by the Dog’s Trust.
The aim of the project was to get young people excited about the arts and literacy, and engage them in important topics from, citizenship to health and wellbeing.
All pupils at Llanbedr CiW school used different art forms to create designs on a representation of the character Snoopy in support of the Dog’s Trust.
The children also studied their local environment and expressed in art form what their community meant to them.
The children worked together to look at all of the designs and combined them to create a theme around Rural Communities which is the title of their Snoopy sculpture.
The Snoopy sculpture was drawn, decorated and painted by the children of Llanbedr CiW school and is now on display in the Museum of Wales in Cardiff as part of the Snoopy Dogs Trail along with larger sculptures designed and painted by contemporary artists.
Llanbedr CiW School’s Snoopy sculpture depicts the beautiful surroundings of the school, set in a rural, farming community in the Black Mountains.
Within the artwork you will find words and pictures that demonstrate the loyalty and companionship that dogs provide whilst also helping out on the farms.
Children at Llanbedr CiW school are now fundraising to support the Dog’s Trust and have already made items, using nature and recycled materials, for a stall and have planned events to raise money in the summer term.
Snoopy is pictured with pupils Rosie and Lloyd who delivered the colourful model to the Dog’s Trust to go on display.
