POLICE have reunited an Abergavenny dog owner with her black pug puppy, snatched by thieves responding to an online advertisement last week.
Liz Swain sustained minor injuries in a struggle with two men who initially attempted to flee her home in the Mardy with three pedigree pups. Two were later found in hiding at the house on Grosvenor Road.
The third was returned to Liz last week following an investigation by Gwent Police.
A 22-year-old man from Nottingham was arrested in Newport in connection with the robbery, and was due to appear at Newport Magistrates Court today (Wednesday)
The robbery sparked a viral campaign across social media platforms to help the distraught dog owner in the search for her precious pug.
Gwent Police have since issued their thanks to the public via Facebook, and asked them to suggest names for the lucky puppy.
Police are also asking dog breeders to remain cautious when selling puppies. They say anyone who is thinking of purchasing a dog should ask for the relevant paperwork, and ring the Police on 101 if they notice anything suspicious.
