TWO LOCAL men were arrested on suspicion of firearms offences in Abergavenny on the morning of Good Friday.
Gwent Police received a call at 10.54 on Friday, 29 March reporting that two men were acting suspiciously around the civic amenity site in the Llanfoist area of Abergavenny.
Police officers were immediately dispatched to the scene and were supported a short time later by the Gwent force police helicopter.
A 48-year-old man and a 37-year-old man both from the Abergavenny area were arrested in the area on suspicion of possessing a Section One firearm which is defined as any lethal barrelled weapon from which any shot, bullet or other missile can be discharged.
The pair were also arrested for trespassing in possession of a firearm.
Both men have since been released on bail pending further enquiries and two air weapons were also confiscated.
