GWENT POLICE is appeal for information after a 24-year-old man was robbed and hit with a metal bar in Abergavenny.

Between 9.30pm and 9.45pm on Tuesday, January 4, the victim was walking under the Heol Hamelin bridge when he was approached from behind by three men.

One of the men hit the victim with a short metal bar and stole his mobile phone. The victim then ran off in the direction of the town centre and the offenders ran in the other direction. He sustained a small cut above his right eye and was taken to Nevill Hall Hospital as a precaution.

The offenders are described as being white, between 18 and 20-years-old.

The man who hit the victim was approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall, with dark hair and spoke with a local accent. He was wearing black coloured hooded jacket and trousers.

The second man was of thin build and was wearing a black hooded coat with a zip while the third man was wearing a white coat with a hood, was slightly shorter than the other two and also spoke with a local accent.
