STUDENTS at King Henry VIII School have yet again achieved outstanding results in this year's A-level examinations.

A 98.3 percent pass rate was achieved by 57 students in the upper sixth form with more than 40 percent of all grades being an A grade.

Elen Newcombe and Jonathan Worgan achieved remarkable success by each gaining five passes at

grade A, while Hannah Burch and Kate Mills both obtained four A grades with Hannah also achieving a merit in the advanced extension paper in French.

Another eleven students, Matthew Dilley (plus a B), Kate Boyce-Miles, Mica Carr, Beth Jenkins, Elin Jones, Lucy Maddocks, Sarah Medlicott, Charlotte Michell, Emily Pritchard, Kathryn Prothero, and Susy Stark also achieved at least three grade A passes. In addition , Susy obtained a merit in the advanced extension paper in psychology.

A further five students, Becky Cochrane, Mari Davies, Robbie Reynolds, Robyn Taylor and Owen Thompson each gained two passes at grade A plus a grade B.

An impressive 84 percent of all grades achieved by King Henry VIII students were at the higher levels of grades A-C. This means that the majority of students, who have applied to do so, will gain places at the university of their choice.

Deputy Head teacher, Neil Shutt said, "The students and staff are to be congratulated on raising even further the already high standards which have been set at the school.

"These are an exceptional set of examination results. Some 41 percent of all the grades issued to pupils at this school were at grade A.

The successes of the students are not achieved easily and are a result of sustained hard work over the two years of the A-level course."
