THE streets of Abergavenny will improve thanks to a regeneration programme.

The cracked pavements in the town will be repaired with funding from WAG, Monmouthshire County Council and Abergavenny Town Council.

At last Wednesday night's Town Council meeting councillor Douglas Edwards said, "I walked the streets and there's a lot of cracks and problems.

"The cost of doing it all is £20,000. WAG said they would provide a third of funding and Monmouthshire County Council said they would provide a third, so if the Town Council could provide the remaining £7,000 it would be ideal.

"That gives us some food for thought, that the town is going to get a regeneration programmes of the streets within the next couple of years."

Councillor John Prosser said, "It's all about pride in our community. I fully support this." Councillors voted unanimously in favour of the grant.
