FOLLOWING a meeting with council chiefs and members of the Design Commission for Wales, a further public consultation exercise will take place regarding the Abergavenny Cattle Market site.

The "positive" meeting between MCC and the commission leads to the December 5 to 19 public consultation.

Drawings will be displayed in the One Stop Shop and on the council website for the public to comment on the latest adjustments. Once submitted, the council, as local planning authority will then embark on a wide ranging public consultation exercise.

During the summer, a lengthy consultation process took place which saw the public voicing a preference for design option two. The preferred option was later selected by the design panel.

Cabinet Member for Regeneration Services, councillor Bob Greenland said, "The extensive consultation process conducted during the summer indicated a clear preference for the current design option. Since then, Henry Boot, has been working with the preferred designers and representatives of the Design Commission for Wales, making adjustments to improve the design further and we particularly welcome comments on any changes that have taken place. Last minute comments will be reviewed with the intention to submit an application early in the new year. There will be a further opportunity for comments during the planning process that follows."
