LOCAL magistrates have sentenced a local man of no fixed abode to four weeks in prison for public order and shoplifting offences.

Mark Stace, aged 43, was found guilty of spitting and swearing at staff in the car park of Waitrose store in Abergavenny, stealing a bottle of vodka from B and M Bargains in the town centre and attempting to steal four bottles of white wine from the Tesco store in Abergavenny.

Stace was stopped leaving the store by vigilant staff who discovered that he was acting under the influence of alcohol.
