Abergavenny Tennis Club's Mike Forrest pulled out all the stops and scooped both the men's singles and men's Doubles titles at the club's hotly anticipated Finals Day .
Spectators were treated to a fine display of tennis from the club's best players. Forrest won the singles and doubles titles, partnering Arthur Hales in the doubles. Lloyd Barcenilla was unfortunate to be runner-up in both (partnering Andy Clements) as he felt the effects of a rigorous fresher's week.
For the third consecutive year, Lisa Fawkes was victorious in the Ladies Singles after beating regular doubles partner Becky Rogers in the final. The Ladies doubles trophy went to Charlotte Griffiths and Carys Howard-Rees.
Also winning for the third year in succession were Helen Parker and Mark Johnson as they beat Andy Clements and Brenda Saunders in the mixed doubles final.
For the first year, 'Plate' events were also run alongside the main draw, with Sara Underwood defeating Alice Garlick in the Ladies Singles - a sweet dose of revenge for the earlier reversal in the Ladies Doubles which saw Alice and Helen Parker beat Sara and Ashley Barcenilla.
The Men's Plate was the closest match of the day, with George Williams beating Jonathan Morgan 10-8 in a thrilling final set shoot-out.
The club now looks forward to its Family Fun Day on October 1, with parent and child events running from 2pm alongside Cardio Tennis taster sessions for older juniors. For more information visit abergavennytennis.org.uk.
