A prayer vigil was held on Friday night at Newport Cathedral for the former Vicar of Abergavenny, Rev'd Canon Jeremy Winston who has suffered a cerebral hemorrhage just weeks after taking up his new post as Dean of St Woollos.
Fr Winston, who served as vicar of Abergavenny for 18 years before his recent move to Newport, was admitted to the Royal Gwent Hospital just over a week ago and has undergone numerous tests and was this weekend transferred to the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff for further investigations.
Churches across the diocese remembered him in their prayers on Sunday and a special prayer vigil was held in Newport Cathedral on Friday evening.
Fr Jeremy is said to be comfortable and being well cared for by the hospital staff, but it has been requested that he should not receive any visitors at this time.
