Traffic was temporarily halted around the Usk bridge in Llanfoist on Thursday afternoon as the fire service responded to reports of a grass fire on the embankment.

The fire was actually a ‘controlled burn’ being carried out legally by a farmer and the emergency call from a member of the public was logged as ‘a false alarm with good intent’.
