The A40 road between Abergavenny and Crickhowell is blocked by a fallen tree.

The 50-ton tree came down at 12.50pm today (Thursday) near the border between Powys and Monmouthshire at Glangrwyney and traffic was soon queuing on both sides.

Two cars were involved in the incident - a Nissan Micra and a Renault Clio. Powys Police told the Chronicle that no-one was seriously injured but some of the occupants were taken to Nevill Hall Hospital by ambulance.

By 1.45pm road diversions had been put in place and traffic had been cleared from the area.

Contractors are currently working to clear the tree from the road, which is expected to take until Friday afternoon.
