FOR the third time Crickhowell Resource and Information Centre staff have organised an art trail of open studios and galleries in the area.

There are 31 venues showing the work of more than 50 artists during the event which runs from Saturday, May 28 through to Monday, May 30.

Suzette Pratten, facilities officer and exhibition co-ordinator at CRiC (Crickhowell Resource and Information Centre) has co-ordinated the event which spreads as far as Llanfrynach in one direction to Llanddewi Rhydderch in the other direction.

The event has been supported by Collabor8 as it promotes the exceptional quality of art and craftsmanship on offer.

The trail starts with the Oriel Gallery in the Crickhowell Resource and Information Centre (CRiC), moves onto the Gallery on the Usk at 49, High Street, Crickhowell, which opened last October.

The Dragon Inn has the ground floor displaying the work of five artists including the Chronicle's contributor Lynne Allbutt.

Then there is Tim Rossiter at 6, Bridge Street, Crickhowell, Caroline Purvis at The Garden House, Llangenny Lane, Crickhowell and Carys Rodwell, 1, Llangenny Lane.

Porthmawr Country House on New Road, Crickhowell has exhibition space thanks to owner Geoff Powell who is re-establishing his sculptural career using the studio in the Coach House.

There are five other artists whose work will be on display.

There are another six artists displaying their work at St Peter's Church in Llanbedr and Helga Prosser's sculptures at Cae'r Lan in the same village.

In Llangattock there is work at The Stables by Margaret Llewellyn-Jones and at Llangattock Court by Morgan Llewellyn. Lee Wright's etchings can be found at Parc Lodge, The Legar.

In Abergavenny a group of artists have created gallery space at the Old Workhouse in Union Road West, including Angela Bowen, Teena Hughes, Mal and Carol Charles and Tim Walker.
