To celebrate Abergavenny Community Centre’s first anniversary and raise funds to support its weekly coffee morning sessions, Chloe Charrington and Cat Eeles are running the Bath Half Marathon on March 13.
Abergavenny Community Centre, in the former Park Street Infants School, is a thriving community organisation, with numerous activities running each week.
With more than a hundred weekly visits, the centre has already become a valuable asset to the community.
It’s a place that welcomes everyone - a place of belonging, support and learning which is run by volunteers and relies on regular donations and income from hiring out space and facilities.
Chloe Charrington, a resident of Abergavenny, and Cat Eeles, who grew up in Abergavenny, see the immense value of the centre and, in particular, the weekly coffee morning which attracts more than 25 people every Friday.
Some of these people are looking for friendship and company or just want to have a laugh over a cup of coffee. The money raised will help with transporting people, bringing in speakers, befriending support, exercise, music and other creative sessions.
