TWO brave customers of the Hen and Chicks pub in Abergavenny had their back and chests waxed outside in the bitter cold to raise money for In The Pink.
A massive £800 was raised on the day where landlady Kate O'Donnell made everyone wear something pink in aid of Breast Cancer Care.
'Chicks in Pink' saw customers don fancy dress, face paint there was live music and an evening disco.
Staff at the pub were decked out in head to toe pink, in keeping with the 'Chicks in Pink' theme. They will also made some pink cocktails just for the day.
Kate said, "We raised £800 which is a fantastic amount. The customers and staff did really great and we have tremendous support. Jim Veynon who had his back waxed and Bernie Watkins his chest were excellent. They were freezing cold but they were brave souls because afterwards the kids were throwing wet sponges at them!"
It's the first event of its kind for the Hen and Chicks and Kate said there will be many, many more.
"I would like to thank all our customers and everyone who supported the event especially Liz Sullivan who carried out the waxing when we were let down the last minute."
All money raised will be handed over to Breast Cancer Care at Velindre Hospital.
